about me
Band Members:
Elle Shea - lead singer, songwriter, unofficial manager, occasional cowbell
Patrick Sheese - acoustic guitar, songwriter, occasional vocals, occasional flirt
Influences: Elle: 90s aesthetics, alt 90s music, fashion, living with a disability, mental health advocacy, my own mental illness and health problems, experiences good and bad through my life. existentialism and the meaning of my and other’s life, therapy (specifically Internal Family Systems), psychology, choral singing, UW a cappella choir, UW cabaret troupe nature/architecture and people as subjects in my photography, writing from a factual place, “Weird” people, places and things, using art as a catharsis and management for mental strife, very inspired by people in my life, believe anything can be made into a song, sonder (the idea that everyone has their own dreams, goals, health, relationships, life, etc), Musical influences: Jazz, alt rock 90s, disco, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Billie Eilish, BeyoncĂ©, The Flamingos, Billie Holiday, Lana Del Rey, Chappell Roan, Led Zeppelin, Donna Summer, Elton John, Jack White, Neil Diamond, more that escape me… Vocal influences - Roy Orbison, Ella Fitzgerald, Jeff Buckley, Lana Del Rey, Chappell Roan. Patrick: Your mom. But also, 90’s, alt-folk, bluegrass, Steve Martin, Monty Python, alcohol, anything silly, some things that are mildly silly, mild things that are sometimes silly, the opposite of Jordan Peterson…
Sounds Like: Labour good bot tees
On a more serious note we don’t know. Maybe a little 90s vibes? Aggressive acoustic stylings? Lyric driven, for sure…themes of mental illness and resilience. Female belty vocals that have been compared to Grace Slick and Sinaed O'Conner vocals. Accompanied by finger picking guitar stylings.
Listens to: Elle: 90s Mariah (actually tho), playlists that I make for any occasion (Saturday morning drive, Summer party, sexy times, songs I want to cover, sleep, workout) they contain a lot of very different music from dancehall, mumble rap, indie, local, disco, pop, classical music, a lot of small indie artists. It is common for me to go through phases of listening to the same song on repeat for days.
Patrick: What he’s told. My Chemical Romance, CBC Radio 1, 90’s alt, 2000’s emo pop punk, folky type stuff, lizzo.
Bio: The Neighbourhood Hotties are an acoustic folk-rock duo who flirt with glam and makeup whilst performing stories about identity and mental resilience.
Patrick Sheese and Elle Shea met at an open mic in 2023 and began songwriting and performing as The Neighbourhood Hotties in July 2024.
Now they’ve been exploring social media as art and fun over just content and algorithm bait. This has been important while promoting the individual single drops leading up to their album “Unplugged and Overmedicated” in November. Currently playing as an acoustic outfit and trying to grow the Official hottie fan base are a focus.
